The Royal Town of Pahang

Pekan is the royal town of Pahang. It is located near the mouth of the Pahang River. It is an official status declared when the royal family dicided long ago to choose the town as their place of residence. Located near the mouth of the Pahang River, Pekan is quite for much of the year, but bursts into pomp and pageantry in October each year in celebration of the birthday of HRH the Sultan of Pahang.

  Watercraft Gallery Located at Pulau Beram, in front of the state Museum is the Watercraft Gallery. It displays watercrafts of different shapes and functions that were once used in the seas and rivers of Pahang.

The Sultan Abu Bakar Palace

The Sultan Abu Bakar Palace, which is the official residence of the present sultan, is named after the late Sultan Abu Bakar Riayatuddin Al-Muadzam Shah.

The Tun Abdul Razak Memorial Hall

The Tun Abdul Razak Memorial Hall Dedicated to late Tun Abdul Razak, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia and one of the more famous sons of Pekan, this memorial hall houses some of his personal effects and memorabilia.

Getting there

By Road:

Located 50 km. south of Kuantan, about 80 km. North from Kuala Rompin. This Royal Town of Pahang can be reached easily by car, bus and taxi. Local bus leave almost every hour from Terminal Makmur in Kuantan. Local and express buses leave frequently to Pekan. Hired taxi is always available at any time of the day.
